When looking to stay in the UK’s historical and fun capital, the price of the hotel is even more a deciding factor than perhaps for hotels elsewhere. Many people believe that it’s just too expensive to stay inside of London but this isn’t necessarily true. Of course, there are cheaper alternatives to the expensive chain hotels, without having to pay boutique local hotel prices, which can get incredibly expensive for their quaintness.
Choosing a bank or building society can be tough – with so many advertising campaigns, slogans and deals, it can sometimes become a haze of information for you to wade your way through. Many of us look at a specific product we’re interested in – mortgages, savings, ISA’s, current accounts and so forth but we tend to ignore the other fundamentals that make a good bank great.
Without trying to sound negative – autumn and winter are coming up. that means back to the coats, scarves, trousers and cosy jumpers, BUT this doesn’t mean you have to look gloomy or drab! Thanks to some wonderful designers and their Autumn/Winter ’13 collections, we’ll be looking bright and bold come AW13.
A couple of weeks ago, we dared to tell you that you can cook healthy, quick meals in the microwave and now we’re at it again! Panasonic has bought us another wonderful recipe video with food guru Jo Pratt and this time she’s cooking up a crumble with a difference. Most of us think of crumbles as a dessert with lovely fresh rhubarb, apples or blackberries inside but this one has tasty salmon with lashings of prawns.
The Cripple of Inishmaan is a play written by the great Martin McDonagh. For the non theatre goers of you, you may know him from some of his film work such as In Burges or Seven Psychopaths. He has also been at the helm of many other successful plays such as The Lonesome West, The Beauty Queen of Leenane, The Lieutenant of Inishmore, The Pillowman, A Behanding in Spokane, and A Skull in Connemara.
The story of someone trying to escape the monotony of his home town is one we can certainly all relate to. Setting it on an Irish isle, with a disabled lead teenager and as a black comedy, however, is a little different. Written by the wonderful Martin McDonagh (who also brought us In Bruges), The Cripple of Inishmaan first appeared on stage back in 1996 at the Royal National Theatre in London and is now at the Noel Coward Theatre in the West End.
When thinking about West End shows that have a touch of romance to them, one usually thinks straight away of the obvious ones: Mamma Mia, Phantom of the Opera, Once, The Bodyguard, etc. But if you’re visiting London this summer, you may want to consider the seemingly dark comedy, The Cripple of Inishmaan.
Masada – This is the mountain where the Jewish settlement that committed mass suicide lived. The Romans invaded and, fearing for their lives and scared of fates worse than death, the people of Masada leaped over the edge of the Mount to their deaths. It’s a sad story, but the archaeological remnants at the top of Masada are spectacular and not to be missed.
Yes, we have another survival horror game on its way in, although this one sounds like it will not be competing against big titles such as the Silent Hill or Resident Evil franchises. Based around an open world, you are spawned into a randomly generated opening - much like MineCraft – and have to survive for as long as you possibly can.
